A Celebration of all things Siouxsie

For years I have been interested in mostly music from female musicians.  I don't know whether this is because as a woman it is easier to relate to the lyrics in songs, and put ourselves in their place or simply as it is just easier to look upon fellow women as style inspiration. Also I am fortunate in that in my current employment I am able to still create and wear looks that would be frowned upon in most places of work!

I thought that before I begin madly posting pics of various outfits I would do a post perhaps outlining a few of my  reference points. Strawberry Switchblade and Siouxsie Sioux (below) are both definitely defining strong looks that I like to reference whether subtly through lots of black with hints of polka dots and gold beading, jewellery or feathered embelishments.

Obviously this came originally from a love for their music catchy dark rythmns that you can really dance to!

I particularly love the strong make up looks for day but more definitive and almost campy using glitter/gems/false lashes and face paint for evening looks. Look at those earrings! feathers all the way....

Fortunately although I have gone out wearing some pretty crazy concoctions (bin liner dresses, taped with hazard tape anyone!) and the occasional 'decorative' bruise I have been lucky enough to swerve a lot of negative comments, comments that I have heard friends complain about, that I know can often be a dissuading factor for people when experimenting and trying to come up with their own style.  It make me wonder whether they were there and I just didn't care enough to let me be put off.

Basically I adore Fashion, I may not have the model physique (or indeed the cashflow required!) that it does sometimes demand of us to pull off that particular this season but I believe that if you are passionate enough anything can be made into a stylish and wearable outfit!

It's hard to narrow it down to just a few influences but currently I'm feeling as though the alternative late 80's new wave, punky thing combined with feathers, 1940s hairstyling, polka dots, floral patterns, grungy, leather and lace detailing topped off with high, high shoes would be how I'd describe most of where my looks come from.

Biba flowing dark Gothy shades and styles combined with shots of colour and music and art  references.  I also like to keep it fun for example cartoons like my little pony mixed in with the horror influence makes me smile!

This was my make up look for last years Bonfire night, weird expression because I'm trying to see to take the pic!
