Love for The Like

The Like are a great band that I listened to non-stop when I brought their first album (are you thinking what I'm thinking?) Just the opening track June gloom gives me shivers and the best bit is that they are still great! I just brought their most recent album Release me,  and can't stop listening to it.

Its quite different, a lot more 60's garage-girl group sound and they have refined themselves into a gorgeously attired mod-shaped group worthy of the finest acclaim in my humble opinion.  I think at the moment my fave track from the new album is in the end.  It also reminds me of The Raveonettes in some ways, another band that If you like the Like's new incarnation of themselves I'm sure you'd rate too.

So as a little tribute, and so that you can all lust over their poppy brightly coloured, monochromatic twiggy-esqueness here are some of my favorite photos that I could find.  Enjoy!

aren't they just achingly cool and gorgeous?!

The lovely Raveonettes mirroring the Motley banner!

Glitter, polka dot make-up

I was just messing about with my glitter pots and make-up.  There was a time when I used to wear my hair and make-up like this every day, now however I find that I'm busier and have less and less time on my hands  so I save it for my days off work.  Thought I hadn't posted a Make-up post for a while so ta-da!

My inspirations are Vintage, Egyptian eyes, Alphonse Mucha ladies, D.I.Y Riot grrl attitude, punky 80's pop stars, fantasy and rave.  So quite mixed!

These below are from some while ago that I meant to post before.

1960's Blue and silvery sparkles.

These were with my old camera which as you can tell wasn't as good.

Birthday Bounty!!

Recently I have had a birthday, I know, I know its near to Christmas and no-one needs to consume vast amounts of choccies and receive any more presents but I am one of the lucky ones who gets to stretch out the festivities.........

anyway, just a little post of some of the amazing goodies that I was given.  I've also had an I idea to include another page/section on here to catalogue some of the best examples, and my favourites from my ever growing powder compact collection.  I thought that as I enjoy looking at other peoples blogs and particularly antique, vintage and retro bits and bobs, perhaps people might be interested to see some of the gems that I have aqcuired over the years, since beginning my collection when I was four after finding a Vogue lace design compact in a jumble sale for 50p that I was immediately enchanted and captivated by.  So any thoughts/feedback and compact related anecdotes would be great from fellow collectors.

This is the gorgeous little guitar (I've named her Lady Penelope, because of her colour) that I was given as a gift to replace my other black Fender acoustic that I had a few years back.

I'm debating whether to paint some blood red hearts onto her, perhaps if I get a spare moment.

All things sparkly!'

Here are some sparkly, glittery photos of recent times!

All of the shoes above are from the irregular choice brand.  They are all exquisite and have inspired much shoe envy amongst my friends and myself!!

Decorative boxes, tins and things. (part one)

Gorjuss tins

I have an accumulation of interesting tins, (and things!) which I thought I'd document ages ago by photographing them incase at any point in the future I needed to get rid of some stuff then there would always be a photo record.  Anyway basically to cut a long story short I thought that this would be a good series of posts to follow.  All of the items are from jumble and car boot sales, charity shops auctions etc. or were given to me.  I hope you all enjoy my various odd boxes, ornaments and general vintage tins!

hitting the sales

I thought It would be hard to stick to my new resolution of blogging more, however the opposite seems to be true! This however may be because it is the wonderful time of year known as the January sales.

For example I have begun a sort of dreadful love affair with Freedom jewellery for Topshop and the Santoro Gorjuss range. beautiful paintings of be-fringed slightly creepy little girlies by Suzanne Woolcott.

The only problem is however I do not have any money left over from Christmas and so am now looking and lusting after all the beautifully lit, beaded and feathery precious bounty that is presented to me from every angle a great example of this is this amazing inky feathered bag from firetrap.  I saw it pre-sale (£70something too expensive for me) and then to my compleate joy saw it again HALF price.  This however was a bittersweet moment as this means that the item of lust is still nearly £40 basically far too much for me so I will have to make do with a photo.

however on the up-side to cheer myself up here are some other interesting out and about shots documenting this cold and wintery day!

Here are some of the great T-shirts that I have found online I have decided New year means more blogging and actually having a proper sort-through of all my clothes.  I have decided that I need to definitly customise/make more of what I love but for now I can dream and be inspired by this little lot!

This is my favorite and I may actually stop being a skinflint and purchase this one!

All of these  above are from sourpussclothing
