Jean louis a tribute.

Rita Hayworth as the character of Gilda in the film of the same name, looking amazing in every shot, if only it were practical to dress this way every day! The costumes that she wears in the film are designed by Jean Louis, the head designer at Columbia Pictures at the time(between 1944-1960) who also worked with her and designed for her for nine of her films.  Other notable pieces of his include the glittering gown that Marilyn Monroe wore to sing 'Happy Birthday' to President Kennedy, ostentatious headresses for Marlene Deitriche

That is the dress, over 2500 rhinestones sewn onto it and sold in 1999 for $1.26 Million ...... wow!

 Marlene Deitrich

these are a pair of light turquiose leather woven t-bar open toed, stacked heels from office that are my most latest bargain £10 from a local charity shop and they have barely any wear.
I love how they are completely contemporary yet feel very 1940's in the style too and the colour is beautiful , it doesnt come across very well in the photo.

Judy garland 'a Star is Born' was another one of Jean Louis costume concoctions!

an amazing dance book I picked up, Fred and Ginger with the sweet peas from the garden! book-£1.50

A beautiful white and mother of pearl 1930's fan at the local auction
